Most website builders let you start for free, but the free version usually lives on their address (something like yourname.builder-site.com). Connecting a domain you own is typically where the monthly bill starts. Wix, for example, says a Premium plan is what lets you connect your own domain, and Squarespace has no free plan at all, only a 14-day trial.

Systeme.io is different on this one point: its free plan includes one custom domain, and the free plan does not expire or require a credit card, according to its pricing page. That makes it a reasonable way to get a domain you already own online at no monthly cost.

What you need before you start

  • A domain you control. You need to be able to log in to the place where its DNS is managed (your registrar, or a DNS host such as Cloudflare).
  • About an hour of hands-on time, plus waiting time for DNS. Systeme.io's help center says DNS changes can take 24 to 48 hours to fully propagate.
  • Your basic content: a business name, a one-line description of what you do, how people contact you, and a few photos.
  • An email address you check. You will sign up with it and get account messages there.
The only money involved is your domain's yearly renewal with your registrar. The Systeme.io free plan itself has no monthly fee.

What the free plan covers

According to Systeme.io's pricing FAQ (last updated April 2026), the free plan includes:

FeatureFree plan
ContactsUp to 2,000
Sales funnels3
Blog1
Online course1
Custom domain1
Emails sentUnlimited
Transaction fees charged by Systeme.ioNone

For a small business site, a blog, and a contact or lead form, that is usually enough to launch. You can see the plan limits that matter for growth in our pricing summary.

Step 1: Create your free account

Open the Systeme.io sign-up page and register with your email. No credit card is asked for on the free plan. Once you are in, you land on the dashboard. Take two minutes to set your time zone and your name in the account settings so dates and email signatures come out right later.

Step 2: Choose what your homepage will be

Systeme.io can make any of these the homepage of your domain: a website, a blog, a sales funnel page, or a creator store. For most service businesses, the simplest start is a website or a single funnel page:

  • A website suits a business that needs several pages (home, services, about, contact).
  • A single funnel page suits a one-offer business: one page that explains the offer and collects an email or a booking.
  • A blog suits anyone who plans to publish articles regularly.

You can change this later, so do not overthink it.

Step 3: Build the pages

Pick a template and replace the placeholder content. Work through it in this order so you do not end up polishing a page nobody will see:

  1. Headline: say what you do and for whom, in plain words. "Mobile dog grooming in North Phoenix" beats "Welcome to our website."
  2. One clear action: call, book, or join your email list. Pick one primary button per page.
  3. Proof you are real: your service area, hours, photos of your actual work, and how to reach you.
  4. Contact page: a form or an email address, and your phone number if you take calls.
  5. Legal basics: a privacy policy page if you collect any personal information through forms.

Keep text short and scannable. Visitors on phones decide fast.

Step 4: Connect your domain

This is the step people worry about, and it is mostly copy and paste. In Systeme.io, go to Settings → Custom domain → Add domain and enter your domain starting with www (for example, www.yourbusiness.com). Systeme.io then shows two CNAME records that you add at your DNS provider, and you set up a redirect so the bare domain (yourbusiness.com) forwards to the www version.

We wrote a separate, detailed walkthrough for this part, including registrar-specific notes: How to connect a custom domain to Systeme.io.

Step 5: Set the homepage on your domain

Once the domain shows as ready, tell Systeme.io which page should load at the root of your domain. According to its help center, you do this by clearing the URL path field in the settings of the website, blog, funnel page, or creator store you chose in Step 2. Leave the field empty and save.

Then open your domain in a private browser window and check:

  • The www and non-www versions both reach your site.
  • Every button and menu link goes where it should.
  • Your contact form arrives where you expect it to.
  • The site reads well on a phone.

Step 6: Get found

A new site does not show up in search results overnight. A few no-cost steps help:

  • Add your website address to your Google Business Profile, social profiles, and email signature.
  • Write a clear page title and description for each page in the page settings.
  • Publish a few genuinely useful pages that answer the questions your customers ask you on the phone.

Common problems and fixes

  • "My domain still shows the old site." DNS can take up to 48 hours. Check the records with a DNS lookup tool before changing anything.
  • "The bare domain does not load over https." Many registrars only forward plain http addresses. Systeme.io's help center notes this and suggests a DNS provider that supports CNAME flattening, such as Cloudflare, if you need https on the bare domain.
  • "Something else on my domain stopped working." A domain can only point at one website. If the domain was already attached to another site, adding it to Systeme.io moves it.

When the free plan stops being enough

The next tier, Startup, is $17 per month and raises the limits to 5,000 contacts, 10 sales funnels, and 5 courses. If you are under 2,000 contacts, Systeme.io's own advice is to stay on the free plan.

Questions

Is the Systeme.io free plan really free forever?

Its pricing page says the free plan never expires and does not require a credit card. You pay only if you choose to upgrade.

Can I use a domain I bought somewhere else?

Yes. Systeme.io's domain guide is written for domains registered outside Systeme.io. You add DNS records at your registrar or DNS host.

Do I lose my email if I point my domain at Systeme.io?

Connecting the website uses CNAME records for the www name. Your MX records, which handle email, are separate. Do not delete them while editing DNS.

How long does it take to go live?

Building the pages can be done in an afternoon. DNS changes can take 24 to 48 hours to spread everywhere.
